Static and dynamic tests

In order to be able to verify that the conditions of in-situ installation of a barrier ensure substantially similar performance to that of the crash tests, it is necessary for the characteristics of the substrate to be comparable with those of the soil in which the certification tests were performed (Test Field).

In general, the conditions of the installation soil, which represents the support of the barrier and defines its performance characteristics by interacting with the post of the metal barrier itself, are different in geometric and mechanical characteristics than those of the Test Field.

Verification of the reliability of the in situ support soils of the safety devices and comparison with the relevant crash test values is carried out by performing a series of tests to be performed both in situ and at the test field

The static test takes into account what is provided in prEN1317-5 and allows for the classification of the soil, providing an indication of the barrier’s performance.

The dynamic test takes into account the provisions of UNI/TR 11785 and allows in situ replication of crash test conditions in terms of energy and impact time, so as to verify the actual i
